About the Breeder

DoubleTake Doberman – Est. 2003

My name is Laura, and I come from a small town in Ohio where my childhood was filled with the beautiful sights and sounds of the barnyard. I was surrounded daily by a large and extended family unit, animals and the beauty of nature. It was in fact, a childhood dream.
Growing up, it was not unusual to find me either riding horses through our family’s fields or playing in the creek with a beloved dog by my side. My earliest experiences in training date back to my days as a young girl in 4-H classes with my dads rottweilers. This is where I first discovered the joy of guiding animals and forging that unbreakable bond built on trust, respect, and love. As I grew older, that spark led me naturally into the world of AKC competitions and shows, where my passion for large breed dogs only deepened.
Of all the wonderful breeds I’ve encountered, the Doberman captured my heart in 2003 when I first laid eyes on a tall, red and rust male at a dog show. I remember being utterly spellbound by his presence—he was so regal, but also gentle and poised. He moved with a grace that spoke to his impeccable training and breeding. At that instant, I was enthralled. I knew then and there that Dobermans would forever be part of my life’s work. This majestic boy inspired me to delve headfirst into the fascinating world of Doberman history, origin, function, and health. I devoured every piece of information I could find, from vintage breed manuals and historical documents to modern veterinary research. There was, and still is, so much to learn, and I find that with every new bit of knowledge I soak in, my admiration for these dogs only grows stronger.
Over the years, I’ve dedicated countless hours to refining my training approach, always striving to help these remarkable dogs reach their full potential. Whether it’s developing a solid obedience routine or nurturing a balanced temperament, I focus on the health and well-being of each individual dog, treating them as unique personalities who deserve firm but gentle guidance, structure, and heaps of love. Seeing them blossom into well-adjusted, confident companions has been one of the greatest joys of my life.
Even with decades of experience under my belt, I remain just as enchanted by Dobermans today as I was the moment I met that breathtaking red and rust boy. They still fascinate me with their intelligence, loyalty, and intuitive nature. There’s a certain thrill in knowing that every day is an opportunity to learn something new—whether it’s a nuanced training technique, a medical breakthrough relevant to the breed, or even a subtle insight into their incredibly keen minds.
I feel truly blessed to have found my passion so early in life, and to have my family alongside to support me. It’s my heartfelt mission to share that passion with others. Dobermans are not just dogs; they are family members, working partners, and steadfast guardians all rolled into one. My hope is that through responsible breeding, thoughtful training, and genuine devotion, more and more people will come to realize just how extraordinary this breed can be. It has been an incredible journey thus far, and I can’t wait to see where this lifelong fascination leads me next.
